A Voice for Virginia’s Villages

About Us

The Virginia Villages Collective (VVC) is an informal collaboration among Virginia’s Villages. Our mission:

Increase awareness of the Village model and its benefits
Promote the development of new Virginia Villages
Foster the growth and sustainability of existing Villages
Establish partnerships with other organizations serving older Virginians and their caregivers

Virginia Villages at a Glance

In 2025: 8 in Northern Virginia; 5 in Central and Western Virginia; 3 in Eastern Virginia; 1 in SW Virginia
Provide services to support older adult independence. In 2024, volunteers in 15 Villages provided 49,400 hours of service to more than 3,200 older Virginians, with volunteer time valued at $1,650,000.
Increase engagement and reduce social isolation. In, 2024, 15 Virginia Villages organized more than 1,300 social and educational programs, many open to the public.
Expand capacity to serve more older Virginians. Our Villages supplement and complement services and programs of Area Agencies on Aging and other community organizations serving older adults.

VVC Villages in Action

2025-2026. Virginia Villages Collective, in collaboration with Washington Area Villages Exchange, is implementing a statewide program to reduce the risk of social isolation among older Virginians by expanding access to Village supports and services. The program, Aging Well with Virginia Villages, is funded by the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) and is focusing on expanding the capacity of existing Villages to serve more people and developing new Villages with an emphasis on underserved areas.
